Fall is the time to have your trees inspected. 
Inspections performed now can help identify issues that may be preventable or more manageable this coming spring. Due to the climate in the Savannah area many insects/pests can still be causing damage to plants. Many diseases are still active, as well. Even through the winter months there are enough "warm" days for  most of these issues to become larger problems in the following spring.
